COMPANY OVERVIEW // QUALITY CONTROL
Quality Control

The Quality Control Laboratory of ASTOR Company (QCL) provides analytical control of the product quality to suit the requirements on the contaminant content for high purity electronic gases (used in electronics) and refrigerants.

The quality control is multilevel and is exercised at all processing stages, i.e. beginning from the feedstock to the end product quality control. The equipment available and the analysis methods and techniques applied can successfully be used in other technical fields as well, from environment control to investigation of new materials for microelectronics.

Analytical Equipment Used in the QCL.

Element Analysis.

IRIS Advantage (USA) - atomic-emission spectrometer with argon inductive - connected plasma (ICP), designed for quantitative determination of microquantities (traces) of chemical elements in gases, liquids and solid bodies. Each element is determined over several lines in the specter individually, and this makes this method very accurate.

Limits of detection for some elements (in aqueous solutions).

Identification of New Trace Contaminants.

HP6890 Plus - gas chromatograph with an HP5973N mass-selective detector with a large library of mass-spectra for the mass-selective detector (NIST98 MS Library Bundle). This device allows to obtain a mass-spectrum both of the main substance and of any of its trace contaminants, at a concentration as low as 1 ppm, and substances can be identified by the mass-spectrum with the chance of coincidence up to 99%.

Chromatographic Identification of Trace Contaminants.

UNICAM ProGC - gas chromatograph with a highly sensitive pulsed helium ionization detector (PDID) used to determine microquantities (traces) of air components, organic halogen derivatives, and hydrocarbons with the lower determination threshold as low as 0.05 ppmv.

SHIMADZU 14BPTF - gas chromatograph with two detectors working simultaneously: plasma ionization detector (PID) and thermal conductivity detector (TCD). It is used to determine microquantities of air components, organic halogen derivatives, and hydrocarbons with the lower determination threshold as low as unities of ppmv.

Determination of Moisture (determination of low concentrations of water).

AMETEK Model 5800 Moisture Analyzer:
Determinable water concentration range: 0.1 - 100 ppmv

MEECO Aquamatic+ Moisture Analyzer:
Determinable water concentration range: 0.035 - 20 ppmv

Waters HPLC - liquid (ionic) chromatograph for determination of anion micro quantities after a contact of an electronic gas with water (control of possible decomposition processes, hydrolysis of electronic gases, availability of acid-forming contaminants).
